About Us

Honoring the Legacy of the Cannon Street All-Stars

The Cannon Street All-Stars represent more than just a Little League baseball team—they are a symbol of resilience, courage, and the fight for equality. In 1955, this all-Black Little League team from Charleston, South Carolina, became the state champions, but due to racial segregation, they were denied the opportunity to compete in the regional tournament. Despite the challenges they faced, their story left an unforgettable mark on baseball history, helping pave the way for integration in youth sports.

Today, their journey continues to inspire generations of athletes, coaches, and civil rights advocates. Through this website, we aim to preserve their legacy, educate the public, and ensure that their contributions to the game of baseball and the fight for racial justice are never forgotten.

About CYBA (Cannon Street Youth Baseball Association)

CYBA's Mission

The Cannon Street Youth Baseball Association (CYBA) was established to honor the legacy of the Cannon Street All-Stars and to empower young athletes through sports. Our mission is to:

  • Promote Diversity & Inclusion – We provide opportunities for youth of all backgrounds to participate in baseball, fostering teamwork and mutual respect.

  • Encourage Leadership & Character Development – We use the game of baseball to instill discipline, teamwork, and perseverance in young athletes.

  • Preserve History & Educate the Next Generation – We share the story of the Cannon Street All-Stars to inspire future generations and keep their legacy alive.

  • Advocate for Equal Opportunities in Youth Sports – We work to ensure that all children, regardless of race or economic background, have access to organized baseball programs.

  • Develop Strong Community Engagement – We collaborate with local schools, organizations, and mentors to provide guidance, resources, and support for young athletes.

Our Commitment

CYBA is committed to using baseball as a tool for social change, just as the Cannon Street All-Stars did in 1955. We believe that every child deserves a chance to play, grow, and succeed—both on and off the field.

Join us as we continue to build on the foundation set by the Cannon Street All-Stars and make baseball a sport where everyone belongs.
